My name is Frederica Moretti and I have been living with chronic illness since 2006.
I run a support-help group for people with Fibromyalgia and CFS/ME from the Community Fire Station. Albert Road, Southport. Once a week.
You also can find me supporting patients at a Chronic Pain Support Group called "Pain Clinic Plus". Which is a part of Lancashire Care Foundation Trust NHS Voluntary Service. Each Friday.
The volunteering I continue to do has carried on to form significant links with some of the best self-help support available in our local area of Southport and Formby, for new and long term sufferers' of both Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue/ME.
After a diagnosis of either FM or CFS/ME we may struggle with the implications of these very misunderstood chronic illnesses.
We often find explaining our illness to others difficult and frustrating. Our families often don't know how to help us. Our relationships, careers, and activities suffer, as we are not sure who to ask for advice. Unfortunately, there are no quick fixes for either Fibromyalgia or CFS/ME.
So, if Fibromyalgia or CFS/ME is leaving you lost and alone, or if you just would like some up to date support information please feel free to come along to our friendly Thursday meetings.
During the support group session we chat about 'Tips' on how you might learn to live well with Fibromyalgia and CFS/ME.
There is a good deal of support information you can take home and read. You can find out more about coping strategies. self-help, some of which is written by Clinical and Medical experts.
There is also signposting to other accessible venues:
Gentle chair based exercise classes, Yin Yoga, designed to Chronically ill people.
Tai-Chi, a gentle form of exercise.
Mindfulness, Pacing and other forms of Alternate Therapy. Not forgetting supportive conversation at our support group each week,
remember you are not alone.
